Production Seiban Summary

The Production Seiban application provides the following core capabilities.

A daily bucketed view of Demands, Supplies and overall availability of items in a business model where the required daily production quantities are entered directly in the calendar view and production is driven by a ’make to stock’ attitude.

Sales and Inventory are visible in the bucketed calendar view so they can be considered when setting production quantities, but they do not drive the Supply Chain.

As Sales Orders are received, each Production Seiban will be manually allocated to the Sales Orders it will fulfill to aid both visibility and order fulfillment.

A PRP like process using Demand-Supply Pegging is used to plan the supply chain at each level of the BOM that is identified as a Production Seiban planned. This can optionally be right down to the lowest level component. The process creates the appropriate work orders, transfer orders, purchase requisitions and purchase orders and pegs each with the Seiban number.

The association of the Seiban number to each Supply order deliverable provides a number of advantages including the ability to:

• Immediately identify all orders associated to a Seiban number that would be impacted by any change to any demand or supply.
• Reduce material costs through effective planning and purchasing of only needed materials.
• Track the cost of orders based on actual production costs.
